5/22/10 - Leslie Fire Chief Mike Fancher funeral services

Following visitation services on 5/21/10, firefighters maintained an all night vigil with Chief Fancher at the fire station. On the morning of 5/22/10, the Leslie Fire Department Chief made his final ride on his 1949 fire truck. Firefighters left the station and walked along side the Chief on his truck to the old fire station, now the police department, where they paused to stand in salute formation while the station fire siren was sounded for his final call. Leslie firefighters then boarded fire apparatus to escort the Chief to the Leslie High School for funeral services, passing by a line up of neighboring fire department's apparatus that had gathered to honor Mike. A brief visitation was held prior to the service with the Leslie Fire Department Honor Guard standing by. Following the service, firefighters lined up outside the school to salute the Chief and his family as he was carried out to a waiting hearse. Then, escorted by his 1949 fire truck, Mike departed the services to his final place of rest.

This gallery of photos has been posted with the utmost respect for Chief Fancher, based on the guidance and wishes of his family. It is meant to show the honor, respect and friendship Mike had earned and to appreciate the tribute firefighters participated in to reflect that, while meeting Mike's last wishes. ** PROCEEDS FROM THE PURCHASE OF ANY PHOTOGRAPH OR PRODUCT FROM THIS GALLERY WILL BE DONATED TO THE LESLIE FIREMAN'S CLUB, 4279 OAK RD, LESLIE, MI 49251 IN HONOR OF CHIEF MIKE FANCHER. **
