4/18/06 - Chelsea Fire Captain Matt Tuttle funeral procession
On April 13, 2006, Chelsea Fire Department Captain Matt Tuttle, 28, and Chelsea Police Chief Scott Sumner, 42, were killed in a helicopter crash while searching for a suspect who was eluding police in a wooded area along I-94 on foot. Tuttle, who was also a reserve police officer for the Chelsea Police Department, had voluntered the use of his helicopter to assist in the search. He had provided this service for the department in the past. A police officer witnessed the crash and attempted to revive the victims, but they were pronounced dead upon the arrival of paramedics. Funeral services for Matt Tuttle were held in Chelsea on Tuesday, April 16, 2006.
