12/17/09 - Mason house fire, 927 Rolfe Rd
For the second time this year, Mason firefighters responded to a house fire at 927 Rolfe Rd the evening of 12/17/09. Command arrived to find the attached garage of the two story home completely involved in fire with extension into both floors and the attic of the home. Because of structural compromise and no rescue concerns, command made this an exterior attack. Mutual aid tankers and manpower were requested from Leslie Fire Department and Dansville Fire Department, followed shortly by activation of the tanker task force. The Ingham County Tanker Task Force responds with a tanker from each fire department in Ingham County outside of the metro Lansing area. With one call, 8 tankers and 1 engine are mobilized. Firefighters pulled handlines to stop the spread from the front and the rear, and then continued extinquishment of the attic by aerial master stream when water supply permitted. This home was damaged by a fire on 4/17/09 with the previously damaged areas still boarded up. It was still occupied at the time of this fire but all people were accounted for.
