4/18/06 - Meridian Twp house fire, 375 Newman Rd

On Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 3:18 PM, the Meridian Township Fire Department responded to a report of a grass fire in the woods at 375 Newman Rd. On scene, it was discovered that the fire had extended to the two story residence at this address. This part of Meridian Twp is rural, with no hydrants, so the tanker task force was requested to respond. The fire was quickly brought under control and most of the responding tankers were canceled prior to their arrival. The Williamston Fire Department also assisted at the scene with a grass rig.
