9/4/05 - Mason pole barn fire, 1610 S. Edgar Rd

At 3 PM on Sunday, September 4, 2005, the Mason Fire Department was dispatched to a pole barn fire at 1610 S. Edgar Rd. Based on dispatch information, mutual aid was requested for tankers and manpower from Leslie and Onondaga. The Onondaga Fire Department was first to arrive on the scene of the fully involved structure that was approx 1/4 mile off the road down a long winding driveway. Mason arrived shortly afterward to assist in the attack. A tanker shuttle was established on the road with a supply line running to a relay pumper set up in the middle of the drive. Firefighters had the fire under control quickly, the structure and contents were a complete loss on arrival.
