3/2/22 - Benton Twp mobile home fire, 1809 Regiment Ct
At approximately 8:50 AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Benton Twp, Charlotte, and Windsor Twp fire departments were sent to a fire in a mobile home at 1809 Regiment Ct in Potterville. Dispatch information reported people were still in the home at the time of call. Heavy smoke was showing from a double wide mobile home on arrival. Command found that there were a total of 6 patients that were going to need evaluation. Mutual aid ambulances were requested, with 2 each coming from Eaton Area EMS along with Grand Ledge, and Windsor Twp fire departments. Water supply was a problem as the hydrants in that area of the park were dry. Benton Twp's tanker was out of service after being struck by a vehicle while protecting an accident scene on the highway in February, so mutual aid tankers were requested. Grand Ledge and Vermontville each sent theirs. Before the tankers arrived an engine from Charlotte was able to find an operational hydrant and supplied Benton's engine. The tankers were then used to supply the back up engines from Windsor and Charlotte. After the fire was brought under control, extensive overhaul was required through a large amount of contents in the home. One firefighter was evaluated at the scene by EMS for exhaustion.
