8/19/22 - Onondaga house fire, 3867 S Edgar Rd
The Onondaga, Leslie, and Rives-Tompkins Twp fire departments were dispatched to a house fire at 3867 S Edgar Rd just after 8 AM on Friday, August 19, 2022. Heavy smoke was visible from a distance. The first arriving command had a 1 story ranch with the attached garage fully involved and heavy extension into the home. All occupants had evacuated. Additional mutual aid was requested from the Mason and Delhi Twp fire departments for manpower. The initial attack was defensive, Engine 1261 pulled up and performed a blitz attack on the main body of fire with their deck gun to stop further extension into the house. A hand line was stretched to the "C" side for exposure protection to the home's propane tank.
A downed power line had also dropped directly next to the tank. Personnel made entry to finish off the fire in what was left of the home and the attic space. Extensive salvage and overhaul operations were conducted. There were no injuries.
