8/10/22 - Roxand Twp pole barn fire, 9280 E Eaton Hwy

On Wednesday evening, August 10, 2022, at approximately 5:15 PM, the Roxand Twp and Grand Ledge fire departments were dispatched to a pole barn fire at 9280 E Eaton Hwy. The first arriving firefighter reported heavy smoke from a 32x40 pole barn, additional mutual aid was requested from Portland & Sunfield. Tankers from Roxand and Grand Ledge set up water supply in the driveway to Engine 711 which was assigned fire attack. An interior attack was initiated, but command was forced to go defensive when fire extended into the attic space & thru the roof. One firefighter was transported by Grand Ledge EMS for a leg injury. Additional mutual aid was requested for Portland EMS, Woodland Twp Fire & Delta Twp Fire. The fire was knocked down by the defensive attack but some overhaul was required before all mutual aid companies could be released.
