8/24/21 - Rives-Tompkins Twp extrication, US-127 mile marker 54
Just after 6 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the driver of a Dodge Challenger traveling south on US-127 lost control of his vehicle on wet pavement, crossed the median, and was struck broadside by a vehicle traveling northbound in their own lane. The Rives-Tompkins Fire Department and Jackson Community Ambulance responded to the initial call, which reported extrication would be required. Mutual aid was requested for manpower from the Leslie Fire Department and an additional ambulance from Lansing-Mason Ambulance. Upon arrival, it was determined extrication equipment would not be required, but 3 patients had received critical injuries and would require rapid transport. All agencies worked seamlessly as one unit to secure the patients for transport. Firefighters remained on scene to assist with traffic control as police investigated the scene.
