8/14/21 - Delhi Twp building fire, 2141 N. Aurelius

The Delhi Township Fire Department returned to 2141 N Aurelius at about 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Maintenance reported smoke in the uninvolved wing of the building where an apartment fire occurred in the morning. On arrival, command found smoke inside the building and requested a full response, bringing out automatic aid from the Lansing Fire Department. Firefighters faced difficulty locating the fire., it was learned there were two roofs on the building after renovations were done over a flat roof. Smoke conditions continued to worsen and additional mutual aid was requested for manpower from Mason, Meridian Twp, and Windsor Twp. Firefighters pulled ceilings and cut holes in the roof for ventilation and to check for extension. Fire was located in a wall and extensively overhauled. The rest of the building was thoroughly checked for any further extension before firefighters were cleared.
