1/7/20 - Dansville mobile home fire, 4232 Williams Rd
The Dansville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4232 Williams Rd just before 10 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. Calls from neighbors reported the fire, some said they believed the structure was vacant. The Leslie and SAESA fire departments were dispatched on automatic aid. Command reported a structure almost completely on the ground on arrival. Leslie Engine 740 was first on scene, dropping a supply line at the street as the went up the driveway to the structure. Dansville Engine 330 pulled into the drive at the street, set up a porta tank, and supplied Engine 740. Amid strong winds driving heavy snow squalls, firefighters began extinguishing what was left of the structure. The Mason Fire Department was requested for a tanker and manpower. Command found clues that the structure was not "vacant" and had concerns there were no signs of the residents. Relatives of the homeowners showed up about the time the flames were knocked down and were able to verify the residents were safely out of town. Once the remainder of the fire was completely out, crews worked in the cold and snow to pick up and return the equipment to in service condition.
