9/3/19 - Lansing industrial building fire, 209 W. Mount Hope

The Lansing Fire Department responded to a fire at Atmosphere Annealing at 209 W. Mt Hope on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at about 5:50 PM. Engine 49 was the first to arrive, reporting heavy smoke and flames visible from the roof. Additional apparatus were requested to respond, and crews set up for exterior operations as Engine 49's crew entered the building to investigate. Personnel found the fire was involving oil in a furnace, and the attack strategy shifted to controlling the fire with foam. All on scene crews pulled their available foam for use, command requested additional foam be brought to the scene. Once foam operations were put in place, the fire was quickly controlled. Interior crews then checked the building for fire extension and overhaul.
