9/21/19 - Williamston house fire, 263 E. Sherwood Rd

The NIESA-Williamston, NIESA-Leroy Twp, and Meridian Twp fire departments were dispatched to a house fire at 263 E. Sherwood Rd at 7:50 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2019. While units were en route, command requested additional mutual aid from Dansville Fire. Meridian Twp personnel were first to arrive, with command reporting heavy fire from an attached garage extending into a 2 story home. Visual indications appeared the fire had advanced into the attic of the home, so the east side Ingham County Tanker Task Force was activated, bringing additional tankers from Fowlerville, SAESA, and Unadilla Twp. Meridian Engine 92 pulled into the long driveway and stretched lines for attack, Williamston Engine 11-2 was directed to reverse lay a supply line from Engine 92 back to the street where porta tanks were set up for tankers to dump. While this was being set up, Meridian Engine 91 drove up the neighbors driveway and stretched a line through the yards and around a small pond to supply Engine 92. Crews knocked down the main body of fire and then entered the home to finish extinguishment and overhaul. The scene was turned over to fire investigators once the fire was out.
