8/18/19 - Mason extrication, US-127 south of South St
On Sunday evening, August 18, 2019, a pickup truck hauling a fifth wheel camper lost control while traveling south on US-127 at the South St overpass. The vehicle crossed the median, crossed the northbound lanes, and rolled over off the east side of the highway as it entered the backyard of a house on Judy Ct. The Mason Fire Department and Lansing-Mason Ambulance Service were dispatched to respond just before 7:30 PM. On arrival, the only occupant of the truck was found to be stuck inside the pickup truck on it's side. EMS entered the vehicle to begin assessment while firefighters began the process of stabilization and roof removal. After the extrication work was completed, fire personnel assisted EMS with patient packaging and removal. A crowd of onlookers had gathered on nearby South St, so firefighters used a tarp to protect the patient's privacy. Shroyers Towing was called in for removal of the vehicles which required specialized equipment. Firefighters stood by during the clean up for lighting and scene safety.
