4/4/18 - Rives-Tompkins Twp grass fire, 10690 Somerville Rd

A Sunday afternoon wind blew a controlled grass burn off into an out of control field fire on April 8, 2018. The Rives-Tompkins Fire Department was dispatched at 4:43 PM, on arrival there was several acres of grass and brush burning in the backyards of two homes. The wind was driving the flames toward a swamp and a wooded area. Command requested mutual aid for a grass rig from the Henrietta Twp Fire Department as the first arriving crews went to work at the head of the fire. The flames were brought under control quickly with no injuries.
