2/17/17 - Williamston house fire, 640 E. Holt Rd

The Ingham County Central Dispatch office received a report of a structure fire at 640 E. Holt Rd at 9 AM on Friday, February 17, 2017. A MABAS box alarm was initiated, sending the NIESA-Williamston, NIESA-Leroy and Dansville fire departments. On arrival, command reported a fully involved garage attached to a two story house. Smoke conditions indicated potential extension into the attic of the home so additional assistance was requested for tankers and manpower from the Mason and Delhi Township fire departments, a tanker was also requested from Onondaga. First arriving Williamston Engine 11-1 dropped a supply line at the road and proceeded up the driveway, preconnects were pulled and personnel proceeded to knock down the garage fire from the outside. When Leroy Engine 618 arrived they pulled short into the driveway and connected to the LDH to supply Engine 11-1, a porta-tank was set up behind 618 which set up to draft as tankers supplied the porta-tank. After the fire in the garage was knocked down, additional firefighters entered the home to check for and stop any extension. The fire had not spread as much as was originally thought so command was able to start clearing mutual aid companies after a short duration.
