6/21/16 - Leslie grass fire, southbound US-127 & Covert Rd

At approximately 3:30 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, the Leslie Fire Department responded to a grass fire alongside southbound US-127 at the Covert Rd overpass. Working in close proximity to vehicles traveling at highway speed, firefighters handled the fire with two brush trucks and 4 personnel. Windy conditions increased the hazards by blowing thick smoke across the travel lanes of the expressway.
