12/20/16 - Onondaga barn fire, 3151 S. Edgar Rd

At 8:45 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, a MABAS box alarm was dispatched to 3151 S. Edgar Rd for a barn fire. The Onondaga, Leslie and Mason fire departments were initially dispatched, additional tankers were requested from the Delhi Twp, Eaton Rapids and Eaton Rapids Twp fire departments when responding Onondaga command observed a large smoke plume from a distance. Personnel arrived to a completely engulfed 40x60 pole barn with no exposures. The structure and contents were already completely destroyed with very little of the structure still standing. Mason firefighters arrived first and added extra lengths of hose to their preconnects to reach the barn and begin extinguishment. Additional personnel began performing overhaul and opening hidden pockets of fire. Several tankers were released shortly after arrival.
