10/30/16 - Ingham County Tanker Task Force exercise

On Sunday morning, October 30, 2016, the Ingham County Tanker Task Force conducted a training evolution in Meridian Township. An engine established a draft from portable tanks at two different locations near the Meridian Township Public Works garage to simulate a defensive attack from the front and rear of a large structure. Tankers bringing in water were given assignments as they approached, directing them to which draft site to dump at. The object was to keep both engines pumping with no interruption in water supply. Tankers filled from 4 available hydrants at the Meridian Mall to bring water in. The Meridian Township Fire Department and Lansing Fire Department provided engines for the pumping exercise, while the Dansville, Delhi Township, Eaton Rapids Township, Leroy Township, Leslie, Mason, Onondaga, Stockbridge and Williamston fire departments provided tankers for the exercise. The exercise lasted approximately 2 hours and pumped over 140,000 gallons of water.
