12/8/15 - Lansing industrial building fire, 1801 Bassett
At 2:34 PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, the Lansing Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire inside an industrial building at 1801 Bassett St. The alarm consisted of Engines 41, 42, 44 & 48, Truck 41 & 44, Battalion 41 and Medic 41. First arriving Engine 42 reported fire showing on arrival with difficult access. Command requested an extra engine company (Engine 49) and mutual aid from East Lansing for an additional command officer (Battalion 11). Engine 42 positioned on the "C" side of the building and pulled their preconnects to attack the fire with tank water, firefighters found the closest hydrant to be across the street from the complex. Truck 41 arrived, reported fire had extended into the roofline and set up their aerial on the "D" side to get to that. A preconnect off Truck 41 was stretched up the extended aerial to extinguish that fire. Once personnel got to the fire, it was quickly controlled. Areas were checked for extension and overhaul was completed. No firefighters were injured.
