3/9/14 - Lansing house fire, 300 E. Miller Rd
The Lansing Fire Department responded to a house fire at 300 E. Miller Rd at 4:45 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2014. First due Engine 44 reported a smoke column visible from a distance with heavy fire showing from the rear of a cape cod on arrival. Crews made entry for search & attack, but personnel had to exit the structure several times to knock the fire down from the outside. Extinguishing the fire was difficult as it had extended into hidden void spaces in the house. Engines 44, 46, 49, Trucks 41, 49, Battalion 41 and Medics 46 & 49 responded to the call. Rehab support was provided by a neighbor & Box 23. The fire is believed to have been caused by combustibles on a space heater.
