1/22/14 - Henrietta Twp garage fire, 4442 E. Berry Rd

The Henrietta Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire just after 11 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. When firefighters arrived, a large single story garage was showing heavy smoke and fire, extending to a nearby detached residence. Initial attack was placed on protecting the home and stopping the extension. Additional resources were requested, and before it was done, mutual aid responded from the Rives-Tompkins Fire Department, Blackman-Leoni Dept of Public Safety, Leslie Fire Department, Stockbridge Fire Department (SAESA), Dansville Fire Department and Onondaga Fire Department. Firefighters continued their defensive attack on the garage itself, braving single digit temperatures as neighboring manpower and tankers arrived on scene. An unattended space heating was the initial suspected cause of the blaze, there were no injuries reported.
