12/11/12 - Right To Work protests at the State Capitol Building
On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the State of Michigan introduced and passed legislation making Michigan a Right-to-Work State. Thousands of protestors gathered at the Capitol to object to the law and the methods being used to pass it. These protests drew national attention from multiple media outlets and speakers like Jesse Jackson. Hundreds of police officers from the Michigan State Police were assisted by the Lansing, East Lansing and Michigan State University police departments and mounted divisions from 3 counties in an effort to keep the crowds under control. A couple of minor injuries resulted from the confrontation, which had no effect on the senator's that were deciding on the bill.
