8/12/11 - Lansing industrial building fire, 209 W. Mt. Hope
The Lansing Fire Department responded to a fire in an industrial building at 209 W. Mt. Hope at 6:05PM on Friday, August 12, 2011. The initial response of 3 engines, 2 trucks & the battalion chief arrived to heavy black smoke issuing from the building with visible fire along the roof line. 2 additional engine companies and a 3rd truck company (mutual aid Truck 21 from Delhi Township) were requested to respond as firefighters prepared for what appeared would be a long battle. Firefighters made entry and were able to knock down most of interior fire. The remaining fire was then on the exterior portion of the roof, which was very quickly knocked down using ground monitors and aerial streams from both the first arriving ladder trucks. Three hydrants were used with a large amount of LDH stretched down 2 city blocks.
