8/29/10 - Delhi Twp extrication, 4900 block of W. Holt Rd
At 6 AM on Sunday, August 29, 2010, the Delhi Township Fire Department was dispatched for rescue and EMS to the 4900 block of W. Holt Rd for a car vs. pole traffic accident with patients trapped. Two patients received serious injuries when the driver lost control while traveling at high speed westbound on Holt Rd. The car skidded off the road first sheering off a fire hydrant, then striking a large utility pole which completely severed and brought power lines down across the road that were running from pole to a house. The car continued on, taking out a mailbox, a wooden fence and striking a tree before finally spinning back onto the road. Three of the car's four doors and the roof had to be removed to complete the rescue of both trapped patients who remained conscious through the rescue. Delhi Township Fire command requested mutual aid from the Windsor Twp Fire Department for a second ambulance to the scene to transport one of the occupants.
