7/16/10 - Mason extrication, Barnes Rd & Edgar Rd
Several area departments responded to a serious motor vehicle crash which was reported at 7:05 PM on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the intersection of Barnes Rd and Edgar Rd. The Lansing-Mason Area Ambulance Service was already on the way when Mason firefighters and the Ingham County Sheriff Rescue Squad were dispatched on updated information reporting a pin in. A supervisor from the ambulance service reported on arrival that he had a total of five patients, two priority 1, and one requiring extrication. Lansing-Mason had two ambulances on the run and two additional ambulances were requested on mutual aid, one from the Delhi Township Fire Department and one from Eaton Rapids Area EMS. A helicopter was requested to respond and the University of Michigan's Survival Flight was activated. Command from the Mason Fire Department also requested mutual aid manpower from the Leslie Fire Department to set up a landing zone. Extrication was completed in approximately 25 minutes from the time of dispatch. One patient was transported by ambulance, one patient by Survival Flight and the three others refused transport.
