6/16/09 - Delhi Twp mobile home fires, Windmill Trailer Park

Delhi Township firefighters responding to a report of a mobile home fire, arrived to find one trailer fully involved which had already extended to a second trailer. During the initial attempts to control the blaze, the flames extended to two more trailers to the rear of the original structures. With four mobile homes now burning, firefighters had to overcome many obstacles. Located deep into the trailer park, the nearby hydrant was a small private hydrant supplied by a well, and ruptured gas lines in between the trailers had to be allowed to burn until the utility company could shut off the lines. Mutual aid assistance was received from the Windsor Township Fire Department with and engine and tanker, the Mason Fire Department with an engine and tanker, the Onondaga Fire Department with two tankers and the Lansing Fire Department with an engine. The Ingham County Sheriff Rescue Squad also responded to provide air pack refills.
