1/30/23 - Rives-Tompkins Twp commercial garage fire, 8123 Woodard Rd

Just after 1 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023, the Rives, Blackman, Parma, and Springport fire departments were dispatched to a garage fire at 8123 Woodard Rd. Dispatch information advised the garage contained heavy equipment including vehicles, fuel, and propane tanks. Blackman Rescue 1 was first to arrive, reporting heavy smoke & fire showing from a commercial size pole barn with a residence as a close exposure. A 2nd alarm was requested which brought additional help from the Onondaga, Henrietta, and Hamlin fire departments. Initial fire control was initiated with a mostly exterior attack. Extensive overhaul was required after the flames were knocked down due to the large amount of contents inside the pole barn.
