9/20/19 - Mason industrial building fire, 200 E Kipp Rd

Just after 2:30 PM on Friday, September 20, 2019. The Mason Fire Department was called for an electrical fire in the ceiling of a large industrial building at 200 E Kipp Rd. The department was at this location earlier in the day for a similar problem elsewhere in the building. The Dansville and Delhi Township fire departments were dispatched on automatic aid with Mason. Getting to the area of the fire required extremely long hose lays and difficult access due to the layout of the structure. Delhi Township set up their aerial to reach the fire from the roof. As firefighters started feeling the effects of the heat and strenuous labor, the rehab area became an MCI. Lansing-Mason Ambulance Service requested additional personnel and ambulances from Mercy Ambulance to respond to assist assessing firefighters as they came out of the building. Two firefighters were transported with symptoms of exhaustion. It took several hours to access the fire and be sure it was extinguished. Additional mutual aid for manpower was requested from NIESA, Leslie, Meridian Twp, & Lansing.
