3/25/18 - Rives-Tompkins Twp brush fire, 9004 Kimberly Ct
Shortly after 5 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2018, the Rives-Tompkins Fire Department responded to a report of pallets burning, spreading to nearby leaves, at 9004 Kimberly Ct. First arriving command reported a few acres of leaves and grass burning in a wooded area along with a debris pile in the backyard. The Onondaga Fire Department was requested to assist with grass rigs and manpower. Two nearby homes needed to be protected from the fire advancing thru the woods, so command assigned the brush trucks to enter from those properties to extinguish the flames. The north flank was controlled as it burned into an area of mowed grass which still had snow in some spots. Once the fire was stopped, crews begin the long task of putting out hotspots and overhauling in the woods.
