1/31/18 - Leslie barn fire, 3589 Hull Rd
At about 1:15 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, the Leslie, Onondaga and Rives-Tompkins fire departments were dispatched to a barn fire reported by passersby and 3589 Hull Rd. On arrival, Leslie command reported a small pole barn fully involved behind the house, with a power line down across the driveway in front of it. The Mason Fire Department was also requested to assist with a tanker and manpower. Engine 740 attempted to hit the fire from a distance due to the power line. Winds were making that attempt unsuccessful, so they used their deck gun to knock down the main body of fire. A hand line was then stretched to the "D" side to continuing extinquishment. When Onondaga 1260 arrived, a line was stretched from the street to the "B" side to knock down the fire from that side. When the fire was brought under control, Rives-Tompkins was cancelled. Consumers Energy shut down the power line and crews were then able to access the barn to perform overhaul operations.
