6/21/17 - Delhi Twp house fire, 4678 Ammon Dr
On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 5:25 PM, the Delhi Township Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 4678 Ammon Dr. Two stations from the Lansing Fire Department were dispatched on automatic aid. First arriving units found a two story home with a fully involved front porch and extension into the attic. Initial crews also had a civilian with priority 1 burn injuries located in the front yard. Power lines to the home came down creating another hazard at the front corner of the house. Command requested additional mutual aid which resulted in more apparatus responding from the Lansing, Mason, and Windsor Twp fire departments. Firefighters knocked down the main body of fire and made entry to attempt to access the extension into the attic. Due to the advancement of the flames, the attack strategy was changed between interior and exterior several times to gain control. Firefighters spent several hours on the scene accessing and extinguishing hot spots. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for exhaustion, the injured civilian was transferred to the burn unit at U of M.
