3/2/17 - Eaton Rapids commercial garage fire, 904 Chester

The Eaton Rapids, Eaton Rapids Township and Hamlin Township fire departments were dispatched to their third structure fire within 4 hours at 2:19 AM on Tuesday, March 2, 2017. A police unit on patrol found a working fire in a vacant former commercial garage. First arriving command reported fire through the roof and advised this would be a defensive attack. Firefighters fought the flames from outside the structure until the fire was knocked down and weakened portions of the building could be removed to allow entry for overhaul and final extinguishment.
