2/9/17 - Dansville house fire, 225 N. Kendrick
Dansville firefighters responded to a house fire at 225 N Kendrick on Thursday, February 9, 2017. With automatic assitance from the NIESA-Williamston and NIESA-Leroy stations, Dansville firefighters were dispatched just before 8 PM. First arriving command arrived to a two story wood frame home with heavy fire on the first floor. Additional tankers and manpower were requested from the Fowlerville, Mason, SAESA (Stockbridge), and Unadilla fire departments. Firefighters knocked down the blaze from the exterior before entering to try to extinguish the fire. Conditions inside were not safe due to the large amount of contents inside the home and the floors getting spongy. Fire had spread into the 2nd floor and had hidden pockets in the walls and attic that firefighters could not get to. Due to the extent of the fire and the unsafe conditions inside, an excavator was requested to the scene and the home was demolished. No one was injured during the call which lasted into the early morning hours.
