12/9/17 - Dansville barn fire, 1047 S. Meridian Rd
At about 5 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017, the Dansville, Mason & Leslie fire departments were dispatched to a barn fire at the corner of Meridian Rd and M-36. On arrival, crews found the skeletal remains of a large, fully involved, hip roof barn. It was reported all animals had been removed from the structure. A power line from the house to the barn was down across the driveway and exposure structures. Firefighters began a defensive attack, command requested additional tankers from Delhi Twp & Williamston. When the main body of flames had been knocked down, an excavator was called in to remove debris so firefighters could more thoroughly extinguish hot spots. The Ingham County Firefighter 1 & 2 recruits, which were meeting for class, were put to work helping pick up and put rigs back in service. P.S. - The final photo is a picture of the barn, appreciating it's architecture, as it stood in March of 2017.
