5/16/16 - Eaton Rapids firefighter training, 512 Bentley
On Monday evening, May 16, 2016, firefighters from the Eaton Rapids, Eaton Rapids Township and Hamlin Township fire departments gathered for a training scenario at 512 Bentley St. Personnel were faced with an extrication involving a car with two occupants that had crashed into a garage with total structural collapse onto the vehicle. Both occupants of the car required extrication. After stabilizing the structure, firefighters began extrication and were able to remove both victims by removing a rear door from the four door sedan. During the extrication, spot fires developed in the area surrounding the vehicle, at one point requiring personnel to evacuate the hot zone until a fire could be extinguished. Two mannequins were removed from the vehicle with obvious leg injuries.
