4/17/16 - Leslie house fire, 111 Spring St
On Sunday, April 17, 2016, while the Leslie Fire Department was conducting live burn training on wildland fires, a house fire was dispatched in the City of Leslie. Just before 6 PM a MABAS box alarm was dispatched for the Leslie, Onondaga and Mason fire departments to respond to 111 Spring St, where neighbors were reporting smoke coming from a house. First arriving Leslie command reported a confirmed structure fire. Leslie firefighters were delayed as they had to extinguish and pick up from their training burn, so Onondaga Engine 1261 was the first apparatus on scene. As Onondaga firefighters made entry into the home, Leslie Engine 740 laid large diameter hose from a hydrant at Spring & Bellevue for water supply. Additional lines were deployed and ventilation started as more firefighters arrived on scene. The fire was declared under control a short time later.
