12/21/16 - Mason hazardous materials incident, 1590 S. Onondaga Rd
Shortly after 6 PM on December 21, 2016, the Mason Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle crash involving a propane truck reported to be leaking. Police arrived on scene prior to the fire department and reported the vehicle was not leaking propane, but was leaking diesel fuel from a nearly empty tank. When firefighters arrived, they investigated to find the propane truck was not leaking fuel or propane, but the other vehicle involved had spilled fluids. Firefighters applied absorbent materials to the spilled fluids and disengaged the electrical systems on the vehicles involved as a precaution. They continued to stand by to monitor hazards until both vehicles were removed by wreckers. Only minor injuries occured as a result of the crash.
