11/25/16 - Eaton Rapids Twp water rescue, 10967 Bunker Hwy

Just after 9:30 PM on the day following Thanksgiving 2016, the Eaton Rapids Township and Eaton Rapids City fire departments were dispatched along with Eaton Area EMS for a car in the Grand River at the Bunker Hwy overpass. It was unknown at the time of dispatch if the vehicle was occupied. Fire units arrived and immediately set up lighting and made attempts to determine if anyone was in the vehicle. Rescue boats were launched at the nearby boat landing to search the down river and on the riverbanks for possible victims. A police K9 was called in to attempt a track in the area. When no sign was found of anyone in distress, fire units assisted police trying to determine the owner of the vehicle to further investigate who had occupied it and how it ended up in the river.
