8/12/15 - Mason extrication, Ives south of Tomlinson
A truck driver received minor injury while traveling northbound on Ives Rd approaching Tomlinson Rd when he drifted off the shoulder of the road at slow speed and tipped his truck over before striking a tree. The Lansing-Mason Ambulance Service, Mason Fire Department and Ingham County Sheriff Rescue were dispatched at around 3:10 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. When units arrived they found the truck had struck a tree while sideways, directly at windshield level. The unrestrained driver had fallen toward the passenger seat but was trapped in the vehicle by his leg. A strap was used to support the patient while rescuers performed a roof flap before accessing the interior of the cab to cut away the steering wheel and move other parts that were preventing the driver from exiting. The driver assisted in his own rescue and was secured before removal to a waiting ambulance. No personnel were injured in the rescue effort.
