4/1/15 - Michigan State Police live burn training exercise, 5046 & 5054 W. Holt Rd
A live burn exercise was conducted by the Michigan State Police in two houses on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. The purpose of the exercise was to create and extinguish fire sets for students in the MSP fire investigation school to dig the following day. Local firefighters were called upon to assist with the fire control. The Delhi Township Fire Department was joined by firefighters from the Delta Township, Lansing, Lansing Township and Mason fire departments to take advantage of the training opportunity. With the expertise of the MSP Bomb Squad, several sets were ignited simultaneously and allowed to burn for a short time before firefighters extinguished the fires and performed minor overhaul. Two different scenarios were conducted, with fires ignited in each house. Tankers from Delhi Township and Mason provided a secondary water supply while Lansing's engine was connected to a hydrant.
