2/12/15 - Onondaga house fire, 4761 Baldwin St
At 11:09 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, the Onondaga Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4761 Baldwin St in Onondaga. Automatic aid was dispatched as well for the Leslie Fire Department and Ingham Co Sheriff Rescue's air unit. An Onondaga firefighter was on scene of a medical run just a block away and immediately reported heavy smoke conditions. Additional mutual aid was then requested from the Rives-Tompkins Township and Hamlin Township fire departments. Several departments reported minimal manpower available so command requested mutual aid from the Mason and Dansville fire departments a short time later. When sufficient personnel were on scene, firefighters were able to knockdown the visible fire inside the house quickly but a lot of work was required to locate hidden pockets of fire that had extended into the walls. Personnel were able to keep the fire from spreading past the area of origin, which was believed to have been near an interior wood stove.
