1/7/15 - Meridian Twp house fire, 2371 Shawnee Tr

Meridian Township Firefighters responded to a house fire at 2371 Shawnee Tr on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Several neighbors simultaneously reported the fire which was dispatched at 8:17 PM. When first crews arrived they reported fire through the roof of a two story dwelling. Command requested mutual aid from the East Lansing Fire Department for a Truck, Medic & Engine crew. Meridian Truck 93 hooked to a hydrant next door to the fire and set up their aerial while pulling lines for master streams to be deployed on the "C" side of the home. Later into the attack Engine 91 hooked to a hydrant 1/2 block to the west and pulled attack lines to assist with interior attack. Initial defensive strategies were alternated with offensive strategies once the fire was knocked down, until the fire was brought under control. Firefighters remained on scene into the early morning hours for overhaul and investigation. The house was unoccupied when firefighters arrived, no injuries were reported.
