7/23/14 - Mason vehicle fire, 1900 block of Barnes Rd

Shortly after 3 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, the Mason Fire Department was dispatched to a field fire reportedly spreading toward two houses. On arrival, command instead found a fully involved semi truck in a field approximately 1/2 mile off the roadway. Workers had been loading bails of straw onto the semi's flatbed trailer and the load of straw was also involved in fire. The truck fire and fire in the field were quickly knocked down, command requested mutual aid from the Leslie Fire Department to assist as firefighters separated and extinguished the smoldering bails.
