6/23/14 - Mason high angle rescue, 227 W. Elm
Shortly before 3 PM on Monday, June 23, 2014, the Mason Fire Department and Lansing-Mason Ambulance Service were dispatched to 227 W. Elm St in Mason to assist a person stranded approx. 25 feet up in a tree. A person had been trying to remove precariously hanging limbs from a tree when a large limb shifted and twisted, pinning his foot and his ladder between two limbs. Different rescue options were discussed and attempted before firefighters were able to free his foot using a pry bar, wedge, and cutting his shoe. Lansing-Mason Ambulance personnel transported him to a local hospital for assessment of minor injuries.
