1/26/14 - Stockbridge house fire rekindle, 3173 E. Dexter Tr.
The Stockbridge Fire Department (SAESA) responded to a rekindle of a house fire shortly after 8:30 AM on Sunday, January 26, 2014. The initial fire was reported around 2 AM. The investigating fire unit reported flames showing on arrival, with extension into the roof of the structure. Due to the extensive damage already incurred at the vacant house, command advised this would be a defensive attack. A special request was made for Ladder 1051 to respond, and mutual aid tankers and manpower were requested from the Dansville, Mason, Leslie, Leroy Township and Unadilla Township fire departments. Firefighters battled extreme cold temperatures with below zero wind chills which also resulted in tankers freezing. Once the visible fire was extinguished from the outside, a crew went into the house to perform minor overhauling and extinguish hotspots.
