12/27/13 - Lansing house fire, 4336 Balmoral
One firefighter received injuries from a fall while battling a house fire at 4336 Balmoral on Friday, December 27, 2013. The fire was reported to the Lansing Fire Department shortly after 9:30 AM. Engine 44, 46, 49, Truck 44 & 41, Battalion 41 and Medic 49 were assigned to the call. As Engine 46 first arrived, it was difficult to determine what was actually on fire due to the layout of the structure and heavy smoke conditions. When a working fire in a residence was confirmed, command requested an additional engine company to assist, which brought Engine 41. Even with heavy fire conditions hidden in the attic space, firefighters were still able to make a quick knockdown. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.
