9/10/12 - Mason house fire, 448 N. Barnes St
At 1:31 PM on Monday, September 10, 2012, the Mason Fire Department responded to a house fire at 448 N. Barnes St. Dispatch information stated someone was reported to still be in the house and there was too much fire to get them out. First arriving command had heavy fire shooting out from the front door and living room area of a bi-level home. Police were able to remove the occupant prior to the fire department's arrival. A Delhi Township Fire Department command officer was close by when the call came out and deployed a DSPA cannister in the living room. First arriving Rescue 806 charged their preconnects and knocked down visible fire from the outside before entering for an interior attack. Mutual aid manpower was requested from the Dansville & Delhi Township fire departments. Dansville provided a RIT when they arrived. With an impressive show of manpower and a fast & aggressive attack, this working fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes. A resident and a police officer were transported by Lansing-Mason Ambulance Service for non life threatening injuries.
