7/20/12 - Onondaga house fire, 4589 Stone Rd
On Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:12 PM, the Onondaga Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 4589 Stone Rd which was reported by a passerby. Automatic mutual aid was also dispatched from the Leslie Fire Department. First arriving command found a 1 story modular home with heavy fire from the back and the roof. As firefighters stretched lines to prepare for a defensive attack, the rest of the home became fully involved. Radiant heat and wind driven embers started fires in the front lawn and the burning grass extended quickly to threaten the attack lines firefighters were using. Additional mutual aid was requested from the Mason, Hamlin Township and Rives-Tompkins Township fire departments for tankers and manpower. One firefighter suffered from a medical condition on the scene and was transported by Lansing-Mason Ambulance to a hospital.
