6/13/12 - Delhi Twp structure fire, 4260 Bond Ave
Careless use of smoking materials is the suspected cause for a fire that started on the back porch of a townhouse, quickly extending up the wall and into the attic. The Delhi Township Fire Department was dispatched at 2:09 PM on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. First arriving command reported heavy fire involving the back of unit 4 at 4260 Bond Ave. and requested mutual aid assistance from the Mason Fire Department for an engine company and manpower. Engine 21 stretched lines to control the fire from the outside first, then entry was made for search and to control fire extension. Truck 21 deployed their aerial to extinguish the fire that had extended into the attic. The natural gas meter for the building was damaged by the fire and required a dedicated hoseline to contain this fire until personnel from Consumers Energy could dig up access to the service line and shut off the gas flow. The fire was declared under control at 3:53 PM.
